The first time Bright Eyes played in Melbourne was in 2005, and as good as it was, I left a little disappointed that the set list was almost entirely IWAIM songs. Having jumped on the bandwagon just after Fevers And Mirrors and being obsessed by the time Lifted came out, I was hoping for some songs from those albums. Turns out I had only to wait another 6 years to get the Bright Eyes gig of a lifetime. Last week at The HiFi Conor Oberst and his band delivered an exhaustive two and a quarter hour career spanning performance that surely was intended to please as many Melbourne Bright Eyes fans as possible. And I'm glad I recorded it! The crowd was understandably excited and talkative and so there is some noticeable chatter during quieter songs, but otherwise the recording turned out really well. Enjoy.

Thank you so much for posting these <3!!! I just saw Bright Eyes last night in Brisbane and it was the same setlist. So amazing to hear the older songs I'd never heard live before wowww. And now I can have recordings of it all too :D Hooray!
ReplyDeleteWasn't the same setlist in Brisbane, no old soul song or lua, and we got trees get wheeled away.
ReplyDeleteLast saw them at Glastonbury 2005... didn't really leave much impression except he seems dope out but this time round at the hi-fi i was blown away by how good they sound. The double drums just adds beautiful dimension. Respect
ReplyDeleteI flew from Perth to Melbourne just for this show and their set at Harvest. It has actually changed me, as wanky as that sounds, that was the most important live show of my life and I can't believe I'm about to get to listen to it again. This is amazing. Thank you for doing this.
ReplyDeleteI can't get it to download properly in a complete format, the server fails at around 10% every time and then won't let me try the download for an hour after. Is there any chance you could upload it to a different file server? sorry to be such a hassle, but Bright eyes is my favourite artist and i am completely gutted i couldn't make it to this show.
ReplyDeleteHere's the MP3 format uploaded to zshare, hope this works for you!
